Just How Rigged is the NBA?

posted by Mills-McCoin @ 4:04 PM

Currently the Cavaliers are leading in the first quarter, but what if that doesn't last?  What if the Lebron James v Kobe Bryant "return of the messiah" match never comes to fruition?
We've been cattle-prodded with all manner of marketing, steering us in one direction... if the NBA refuses to "give" us Lebron v Kobe then my body will shut down.  I will crumble onto the floor where ever I may stand.  It will crush me.
Just kidding.
If the Cavs lose tonight- the NBA is STILL rigged.  So relax.  We're still manipulated addicts.
If the Cavs win tonight- the NBA is NOT rigged at all.                             Are you kidding?  Of course it's still rigged.
In any way, you should stop worrying about it.  I'm more worried about the ending of LOST than I am finding truth in the NBA?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the SPORTSDESK.

I grew up thinking that Phil Jackson was some sort of Jedi Basketball coach, that he trancended all of the traditional values of basketball and the business surrounding it.  Phil is tied with Red Auerback for most championships (9).  He's coached some of the most marketed players in the history of the NBA:  Shaq, Kobe Bryant, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Bill Cartwright- Michael Jordan.
Obviously, this guy knows how to handle his life.  He can manage some serious stress.  But what stuns me is that Phil Jackson (born in Deer Lodge, Montana in 1945) would agree to have an inter-office love affair with the boss's daughter.  Don't get me wrong- I think the videos are hilarious.  I can't wait til they come out on BluRay.
I guess my point is that Hollywood and the glamour of the LA Lakers can infect just about anyone- even a six foot eight inch, lumberjack from Montana whose favorite book is Robert Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

Sports Desk

posted by Free Press Houston @ 9:08 AM

From the inception of this paper, their was an undue reluctance to take on anything sports oriented. Blinded by the glitz and clash of professional athletics, we failed to see the legit value in sports and the scope of how much they are followed by our readership. Now, our reader are no doubt different than you average meathead. They deserve a forward thinking and edgy commentary devoid of the usual pandering found in mainstream outlets. This is precisely why I will personally have absolutely nothing to do with it. Veteran FPH columnist and local editor Mills McCoin, along with a few other scumfucks, will try their dangdest to give you up to the millisecond coverage. And maybe, just maybe, tap into the blatant homo-eroticism lying just beneath the veneer of all professional sports.

Thanks-
